The WSOM Rock Band Class is a collaborative, hands-on music program where students learn to play and rehearse as a group and perform popular contemporary music together.

Full Description

Course Overview & Objectives

  • Collaborative Jamming: Focuses on group rehearsal rather than isolated practice, teaching students how to listen to one another and play in sync.

  • Real-World Repertoire: Utilizes familiar rock, pop, and alternative songs that students are excited to play, accelerating engagement and practical skill-building.

  • Instrument Versatility: Encourages students on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards (other instrumentalists also welcome), and vocals to build foundational chops and experiment with different roles.

Core Curriculum & Skills

  • Performance Techniques: Teaches essential stage presence, timing and rhythm.

  • Audio & Gear Basics: Introduces fundamental sound engineering, amplifier settings, microphone usage, and basic stage setup.

  • Transferable Life Skills: Fosters team communication, active problem-solving, confidence, and leadership through group collaboration.

WINTER SESSION (January - March)

  • 1-hour, weekly classes

  • 3-month session

JUNIOR ROCKERS (Ages 6 - 8)

ROCKERS (Ages 9 - 17)

ADULT PROGRAM (18+)

Tuition: $351 total

Terms & Conditions

  • Non-refundable payment: All class payments are strictly non-refundable, and tuition is not prorated upon withdrawal.

  • Merit-based casting: Song and part assignments for group band rehearsals are merit-based, determined by individual practice, preparation, rehearsal behavior, and overall commitment.

  • Rehearsal & Concert attendance: Students enrolled in performance-based group classes are expected to attend all scheduled weekly rehearsals and live concert performances.

  • Code of conduct: Students are required to show respect for staff and peers, arrive fully prepared with their assigned parts, and maintain appropriate behavior.
